Moving back to Guatemala has been a significant journey for our family. Closing our home in the U.S. was filled with mixed emotions—excitement for the new chapter ahead and nostalgia for the memories we created and the new friends we made.
Prior to our marriage, I Myra, had lived in Guatemala since 1995. We have lived in the states off and on since our marriage in 2017. First, for a while, we lived in the D.C. area.
Then in 2018, we moved into our condo in Baltimore. It was a quiet neighborhood, and with the condo security, we could be in Guatemala for 3 months at a time and travel for Mac's ministry endeavors as well. On our return, we would have our own little haven in Baltimore to rest and refresh in.
After awhile, we noticed that Mac's ministry lifestyle was taking a toll on his health. He was like the Energizer Bunny, constantly on the move!! Unlike the bunny, he was wearing down as he went here and there and every where ministering . Even when he was home in his office, he was working into the wee hours of the night.
He even mentioned to me that he realized life in Guatemala was more restful. I used to find him sleeping in the middle of the day when we were there. He was still able to get his ministry work accomplished with ease and tranquillity.
For me, it made my heart glad that he made the decision to return to Guatemala full time! He would rest more and my heart would be at peace. I want us both to enjoy our time together in ministry and in our marital life.
As we packed up our belongings, we reflected on the experiences that shaped and prepared us for the adventures awaiting us in Guatemala. The process of loading up our old home was both challenging and rewarding, as we embraced the opportunity to reconnect with our family and friends and contribute to the community.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey and the incredible work we are doing with MCYEP to support underprivileged children and their families.
